Battling Through Life is a moving, touching, funny, and sometimes painful revelation of the trials and tribulations Filomena and her family have faced in trying to deal and cope with an insidious disease, Friedreich's ataxia (a slowly progressive neuromuscular disease which also has the medical community struggling to come to terms with what it doesn't know). There were many obstacles, many hurdles-so many setbacks! Yet, they were always facing the challenge, fighting with the world, fighting with family and fighting within themselves.
